Vents are commonly used with
shrink wrap, as shrink wrap does not breathe; and also can be used elsewhere, such as on
dock boxes. Regarding use with Shrink Wrap, how many vents do you

| Solar Vent 683, Black
DSI-DS-683SPB, or White DSI-DS-683SPW; and Passive Vent 683,
Black DSI-DS-683B, or White DSI-DS-683W: These vents "travel well",
and are generally the best choice for a boat you will transport
after installing.
The DS683 series vents are made of
sturdy polyethylene with maximum UV inhibitors and screened bases.
The solar powered fan is capable of exhausting over 150 cubic feet
of air per hour at 80% efficiency, and pushes the air outward.
The DS-683SP is a durable,
inexpensive ventilator that can be used on shrink wrap, tents, dock
boxes, fabric mooring covers, etc. to remove moisture and odors.
Each DS-683S includes a screened backing plate and can be installed
with self-adhesive backing or push in fasteners for simple,
permanent installation.
The solar panel is
located on top of the vent cap on the solar powered vents. The air
flow shown in the photo on the right is for the solar powered vent:
the fan pushes air upward and outward. |

A passive vent
is pictured in the photograph below, right. You can use the
solar powered vent to push the air up and out; and the
optional passive vent to allow for air to be drawn in, while
keeping out bugs and rain (both the solar vent and the passive
vent are screened). These are weather tight on a
horizontal or vertical surface.
The passive vent may be used
over your fuel vent (your fuel vent will likely be covered by
the shrink wrap). Watch the

The DS-683
series of solar vents and passive vents are great for
ventilating year round.
The DS-683 passive vents
"travel" well, so if you
are going to transport your boat or equipment, this is the
best choice of vents to use. If you want to use solar vents
when you reach your destination, you can swap them out.
