Higher Power LED
Lights
If you are looking for
LED's with
higher power, below are direct links to the newer
products with higher lumens.
These newer LED lights generally operate
over wider voltage ranges (some from 10 to 30 volts DC,
some as low as 8 VDC).
The
4.8 watt
LED Engine Room/Utility
Light accepts
11.5-32
Volts DC.
The
F-17 LED Utility Light consumes only 4 Watts of power, yet
produces 320 Lumens, Thin profile.
Voltage: 10-30 VDC, Compact Size 7.87" x 4.72" x .55"
Many of these higher power
LED Lights are also
dimmable (specific dimmer required as specified for each
LED Light).

Wondering how to relate
LED Lights to Halogen/Xenon Lights?
The following is a very "loose" guideline. The brightness is greatly
effected by the proximity to the surface you are illuminating. It is
also effected by the reflector (or lack thereof) in a halogen or
xenon fixture. LED's project light out the tips of the diodes,
whereas halogen and xenon filaments project light in all directions
(hence the influence caused by the use or lack of a reflector).
Originally,
LED's generally worked best for focused/task lighting, however
there have been large improvements on beam width, with many now
providing Omni-directional lighting. An example of an
Omni-directional light is
the
LED Engine Room/Utility
Light. The newer LED fixtures with wider beam width
help illuminate wider areas. As of April 2009, the efficiency of an
LED to halogen/xenon is roughly a factor of 4. In other words, you
get approximately the same light output for 1/4 of the energy
consumption.
1.2 watt LED ~ 5 watt Halogen/Xenon
2.4 - 3 watt LED ~ 10-12
watt Halogen/Xenon
4 - 5.5 watt LED ~
15-20 watt Halogen/Xenon
