Customer Reviews

I have been using this anchor for over 300 days straight

Grabs firm in the soft mud, resets every time. The boat never drags an inch. I'm very happy with the 45, I may go with the 35 too. The 45 is a little heavy for my 28' boat.

Received shipment very timely. Heavy object was well-packed in a sturdy cardboard and wood-backed box. It appears in good shape and I am looking forward to assembling it.

This Mantus grabs fast and works very well!

I used this Mantus 45 Lb anchor to replace a Lewmar/Delta plow style anchor on my Regal 3560 (boat LOA 38 ft) The older anchor would sometimes have problems catching and often I would have to try a few times to get it to stick. It has even dragged a couple of times. This lake bottom varies from sand, to mud, to some mixture of rocks and weeds. The Mantus so far has always grabbed quickly. This is using the same chain and rhode as the previous anchor. I feel like it's grabbing much faster than my previous anchor. For use on the lake, I probably could have gone down at least one size, as the 45 lb Mantus just fit on my boat (I had to remove my swivel as there wasn't enough clearance between the anchor shank and my windlass to allow the use of the swivel with the Mantus) and does look a little large. It was the largest size recommended for use on my size of boat. I'm sure it would be a good storm anchor for use on the ocean, but for inland lake use, it's more than large enough for any conditions that could occur. I was very happy with Sailor Sam's price and delivery. Everything about the transaction went smoothly.

Boy does this anchor work!

We've had our 2004 Albin 35 Command Bridge one year and prior to that we had a 44' sailboat for 28 years. We used the anchor that came with the Albin, a FX23 Fortress, during the last year but had some problems with setting the anchor. We know that can happen but felt we needed to upgrade. A friend has a Mantus and it solved their anchoring problems so we figured we would give it a try. When we anchored the first time it set right away. It's our practice to back down and at 1000 RPM she was set. A friend with a 44' sailboat came up and rafted off for a few hours. While rafted up boat traffic waves came through and also the wind came up. We didn't move. And it's always a good feeling when it takes some effort to break the anchor when you pull it up because that means you weren't going anywhere. Our boat is 35' and 15,000 lbs. We were right on the line of a 35/45 lb so we elected to go bigger because it made sense to us. We feel very confident about anchoring in any kind of weather now and would recommend the Mantus.
